Surrogate Compensation in Miami:

Surrogates in Miami are compensated for their time, physical and emotional effort, and commitment to helping intended parents realize their dreams of parenthood. In addition to base compensation, benefits include a monthly allowance, maternity clothing allowance, housekeeping allowance, and payments for certain milestones in the surrogacy journey, such as the completion of the embryo transfer.

Total compensation will vary depending on several factors, including prior surrogacy experience, special requirements outlined in the surrogacy contract, and any unexpected medical circumstances. On average, base compensation ranges between $40,000-$85,000. For eligible surrogates with previous experience, GSHC also offers a VIP Surrogate Program, where surrogates can earn up to $120,000 in compensation, plus benefits.

The Surrogacy Process in Miami

The surrogacy process in Miami typically involves several key steps:

Step 1. Matching

We take great care in matching surrogates with intended parents, assessing both parties’ lifestyles, personalities, values, and specific needs and preferences. We believe a harmonious match is a critical component of a rewarding surrogacy experience.

Step 2. Legal and Medical Procedures

After surrogates and intended parents have been matched, the legal and medical processes can begin. Medical processes will include all necessary screenings and evaluations to check for communicable diseases, hormone levels, and more.

During the legal process, the surrogate will review the surrogacy contract with her own attorney and suggest any changes they want to make. Once the contract is agreed upon and signed by all parties, the surrogate can begin taking specialized medications to help her body prepare for the embryo transfer. After this, a fertility doctor will transfer the embryo(s) to the surrogate’s uterus. After this quick, painless procedure, the surrogate can return home to rest for the remainder of the day.

Step 3. Pregnancy and Birth

About two weeks after the embryo transfer, the surrogate will take a pregnancy blood test. After eight weeks of pregnancy, the surrogate can begin weaning off fertility medications. After 10 weeks, the surrogate will stop seeing the fertility doctor and begin seeing an OB/GYN of her choice.

The surrogate will also choose the hospital in which to deliver the baby. The intended parents will typically be present during delivery, and the surrogate will have some time to hold the baby before the intended parents take their new child home with them.

Surrogacy in Miami FAQs

Surrogacy contracts are legal agreements that establish parameters, rights, and responsibilities, signed by both surrogates and intended parents. These contracts are essential for surrogacy as they protect the rights of all parties, manage expectations from the outset, and provide a legal framework to reference should any complications or disagreements arise along the way.
Yes. Florida state law permits both gestational surrogacy, in which the surrogate has no genetic connection to the child, as well as traditional surrogacy, in which the surrogate uses her own eggs and is therefore genetically related to the child. However, Florida’s traditional surrogacy laws operate like adoption laws, so the intended parents must enter into a pre-planned adoption agreement designed to terminate the surrogate’s legal parental rights. However, this type of surrogacy comes with more risks and is less common.
With gestational surrogacy, no. With traditional surrogacy, it’s technically possible. Because Florida state law treats traditional surrogacy similar to adoption, intended parents enter an adoption agreement with the surrogate from the beginning. However, legally, the surrogate may decide to revoke her consent at any point up until 48 hours after delivery.
In Florida, intended parents establish parentage in the court system by filing a petition for affirmation of parental rights within three days of delivery. Though not legally required, GSHC recommends using pre-birth orders — wherein the intended parents file for affirmation of these rights in the second trimester — which makes aspects of parentage establishment easier later on.
Surrogacy compensation can vary from case to case based on individual circumstances and medical needs. Base compensation is established depending on the surrogate’s previous pregnancy experience and often starts around $40,000, going up to $85,000. Monthly allowances are allocated for ongoing expenses, including insurance premiums, medical copays, maternity clothing, transportation, and other costs.
Surrogates in Florida must undergo comprehensive medical evaluations to monitor their physical and mental health. These screenings can include blood tests for hormone levels and communicable diseases, as well as psychological evaluations to ensure their readiness for the full surrogacy journey.
