San Bernardino has become one of the most surrogacy-friendly regions in Southern California, making it an excellent location for both surrogates and intended parents. With a supportive local community, proximity to top fertility clinics across Southern California — including Pasadena, Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego — and access to high-quality hospitals, this region offers an ideal setting for a smooth, successful surrogacy journey. San Bernardino is also conveniently located near international airports and benefits from a straightforward legal process, making it even more appealing for families from around the world.
Many of GSHC Surrogacy & Egg Donation’s amazing surrogate mothers come from San Bernardino. It’s common for women in the area to refer friends, coworkers, or even family members — creating a trusted and supportive network of experienced surrogates.
Several GSHC team members also live in or near San Bernardino, and with our Orange County office just an hour away, we offer hands-on support, local familiarity, and quick in-person assistance when needed. We know the hospitals, doctors, and IVF clinics in the area well, so our surrogates are never alone in the process.

Surrogates in San Bernardino must meet certain requirements to help ensure their safety as well as that of the baby. At GSHC, we maintain strict criteria to facilitate a fulfilling experience for everyone involved, taking into account the surrogate’s age, prior surrogacy and pregnancy experience, financial stability, reasons for pursuing surrogacy, medical history, and mental and physical health. This helps us build a diverse pool of healthy candidates for intended parents to choose from.

As a surrogacy-friendly state, California is an ideal place for people of all backgrounds to begin the surrogacy journey. State law allows intended parents to pursue surrogacy regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, and marital status, and, unlike some states, does not require either of the intended parents to be genetically related to the baby. The surrogacy process in San Bernardino typically involves several key steps:
Creating a good match between the intended parents and the surrogate is critical to a happy and harmonious experience. All potential surrogates and intended parents create profiles detailing their preferences and requirements, and will also speak one-on-one with our team, so we can have a full understanding of their expectations. We’ll then identify potential matches and set up a time for both parties to meet and get to know one another.
Once a successful pairing has been made, medical and legal processes can begin. The surrogate will undergo thorough physical and mental health evaluations to ensure her readiness for surrogacy and help protect her health and well-being, as well as that of the baby. These evaluations will encompass blood panels and other screenings to test for any conditions that could be passed on to the child.
Meanwhile, the intended parents will begin working with their attorney to draft a comprehensive surrogacy contract, which the surrogate will look over with her own attorney to ensure she’s comfortable with every aspect of the document. When all parties are in agreement, the contract will be signed and the surrogacy process can move forward.
The surrogate will then begin seeing a fertility doctor and start taking medications to prepare her body for the embryo transfer, a quick and pain-free procedure.
Once it’s confirmed that the surrogate is pregnant, she’ll continue taking fertility medications for about two months. After about 10 weeks, she can stop seeing the fertility doctor and start seeing an OB/GYN of her choice.
When the time comes to deliver the baby, the surrogate will give birth in a hospital of her choosing, and the intended parents will typically be at the hospital for the big moment. The surrogate will have a little time with the baby before she says goodbye, and the intended parents will go home with their new child.
To safeguard their own health as well as the baby’s, potential surrogates in San Bernardino must meet strict requirements. In addition to the basic requirements set forth by the state, surrogacy agencies maintain their own criteria. At GSHC, we require that all surrogates:
